Pure Silicon Powder

In addition to alumina products, Environmental Abrasives has also recently developed a process to recycle, reprocess and market pure silicon (Si) technical powders. Pure 99.99%, silicon powder kerf is shipped to Environmental Abrasives from silicon log and wafer producers. This kerf is a fine and dusty waste product from silicon log cutting operations. Environmental Abrasives recycles and reprocesses silicon kerf and creates thermally sprayable silicon powders for the sputtering industry and ultra fine silicon powders for smelting and casting processes. The demand for Si is mostly driven by the high technology computer and electronics industries. Uses for silicon however, have also expanded into other high volume industries such the thin film coatings industries. Sputtering techniques for glass coatings driven by increasing insulation and energy conservation requirements have made Si powders a valuable and demanded resource.
